Review of Nokia 808 Pureview :41 MP Camera Phone

In the recently conducted Mobile World congress, Nokia showcased their latest offering to the Smartphone world- a 41 MP sensor camera- the Nokia 808 Pureview phone. Loading a 41 MP camera in a phone is something unheard of and has created a huge buzz with Smartphone lovers. Let us check out some of the features of the phone.
Operating System And Processor
The best camera-Smartphone in the world, The Nokia 808 comes with the Symbian Belle OS. It's a bit disheartening that this beauty doesn't come with Windows or Android OS. However hope is still alive as Nokia has made it clear that it will incorporate the Pureview technology in upcoming mobile phones. Nokia Lumia Pureview anyone?
It has a 1.3 GHz ARM 11 CPU which is quite normal as compared to the other Smartphones available in the market and hence nothing much to be excited about here.
It comes with 16GB internal storage memory which is quite admirable and expected as well as the higher resolution images will consume more memory in excess of 10MB per image. It has a 512 MB RAM and 1GB ROM which will render fast as well as multitasking functionalities.
Display Screen
The Pureview comes with a tough and scratch-resistant Gorilla glass. It has a large 4.0î AMOLED capacitive display with a 360 x 640 pixel resolution which will provide you top class experience from your Smart-phone.
Camera
The main attraction of the Pureview is its 41 MP camera sensor. The phone is capable of capturing 4:3 images at 38 MP and 16:9 images at 34MP. It has a 1/1.2î sensor which is the biggest among Smartphones and even high end ëpoint and shoot' cameras. It comes with the best Carl Zeiss Optics with autofocus and Xenon flash which makes night time photography a piece of cake.
It can zoom upto 3X with the loseless digital zoom which is something no other camera phone can boast of. Unlike the normal digital zoom in Camera-phones, which digitally interpolates the image, the Nokia pureview has a special processor attached with the sensor which controls the pixel scaling prior to sending the image to image processor.
It comes with HD video shooting capabilities with the 1080 px video camera which records at 30 frames per second. The video shooting also supports loseless digital zoom. A separate VGA camera is provided in the front for Video calls.
Body
The Nokia 808 pureview has the usual strong and rugged plastic material. It has a dimension of 123.9 x 60.2 x 13.9 mm and weighs only 169g. The phone itself looks quite good and classy with the camera section in the rear side protruding with a slight slant to make room for its huge 41 MP camera.
Battery
One of the main concern about using such a high resolution camera and especially at low light conditions with its Xenon flash is that running out of battery. Nokia seem to be quite indifferent to the issue as it houses only a 1400 mAh battery which does not match with the specifications of the mobile. However as Symbian is known to be more energy efficient than Android and Windows phone, maybe it will last longer than our expectations.
Price
The phone is expected to be launched pretty soon and will be priced somewhere around $666. The price seems quite reasonable compared to the specs of the phone and other phones available in the market.
